Animal love

“Come on” she whispered. “We can do it together.”
Her smile was irresistible. How could I say no? It was like saying no to God himself.
I smiled back, held her hand and followed her footsteps.
“We’re almost there.” Her eyes displayed her true love to me.
Dior, her perfume. It smelled like spring, it smelled just like all Godly creatures should smell.
“Hey he-he, stop fooling.” She looked at me with a semi-serious look, with a hidden smile behind the determinedness.
The latches on the door opened up with no struggle.
“Ok, you grab the chimpanzee, and I’ll set the bunnies free out the window.”
Bless her environmentalist souls. I’d punch the pope in the face before I’d believe she had a single bone of evil in her.
Footsteps… Like you hear in the movies. One step at the time, it’s like time stands still.
It starts with a shadow peeping in trough the door, who very soon becomes a live guard.
I put Kello the chimp inside his cage again.
“Don’t move!” Quivered off the guards lips.
She turned around with something in her hands. Like she had her hands inside of her coat.
The guard was terrified.
“NO!” My desperation.
A flash. That’s all that was.

The bullet went through the bunny she was holding, and entered her fragile body, centre mass.
She fell backwards towards the wall, into a sitting position.

All I could do was to comfort her.
She looked at me with her smile. Her smile… Her beautiful smile.
Her eyes closed, and were to not be seen again.
I cried.
I kissed her.
It was the best and the worst kiss ever.
Don’t leave me alone. Please… Don’t…
